Mike is Co-Chair of nil plus ultra’s Supply Chain & Commercial Group, and is an experienced supply chain and training professional with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to operate at all levels within an organisation, operationally and strategically. Mike has operated in many b2b sectors, and numbers the following as his specialist industries: Nuclear; Engineering; IT; Telco; Construction.
Mikes core procurement skills include: indirects; capital; project buying; real estate; FM. Mike has applied his experience to building up a highly successful training practice, benefiting from the real-life sharp end experience he has accumulated so far in his career. He now heads up the nil plus ultra training team.
Examples of Mike’s experience include:
- Project Directorship for a US-wide procurement transformation project in the mining and construction sector, c.$4bn spend across 9 divisions.
- Design and delivery of UK-wide training and development programme within the construction sector, this winning a National Training Award in 2007.
- Interim European Sourcing Director for industrial tapes company. Staved off market increases, developed team competence, introduced category management principles.
- Global transformation project, resulting in relocating to USA to lead activity and achieve stakeholder engagement across client sites. Achieving an ROI in excess of 20:1
- Strategic advice and lead negotiator for major outsourcing project within the NHS (£0.5bn), achieving unexpected revenue streams and exceeding targets.
Mike has held senior managerial positions with: Compaq; Cable & Wireless; United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority; AEA Technology, and Hawker Siddeley Power Engineering. He is also an Assessor for NVQ in Supply Chain Management and a Full Member of CIPS.
